December 2019 - Passionate, motivated, and full of life, Sam has been a dedicated volunteer with Results Canada since 2001 and has supported the organization in many ways throughout that time. His hard work and dedication to local and global issues has not only made Sam a vital voice within our organization but also within his community.

Celebrating action and impact in 2019

December 2019 - There’s no doubt about it, 2019 was an exciting year for global poverty advocates and political junkies alike. Thanks to incredible grassroots efforts we saw Canada make some strong commitments to initiatives we know contribute to ending extreme poverty. Some of our most exciting wins are outlined below along with a sneak peek at what we think are the biggest opportunities for impact in 2020.

Results Victoria Group

September 2019 - committed to making a difference by actively raising awareness and generating the political will to end extreme poverty in the global south. For the last 25 years, group members have also been enthusiastically engaged within the Results community.

November 2019 - Rhea Lobo is an international award winning filmmaker from India. She uses her platform and her experience with tuberculosis to raise awareness about the importance of taking action in the fight against this terrible disease. She encourages those with the ability to use their voices to speak out to learn how they can make a difference and to stand up for those who can't.

October 2019 - What is it like to live with the effects of polio? For World Polio Day, UNICEF Canada's Special Vaccination Representative Safia Ibrahim shares her story - of life and motherhood as a survivor of polio.

Our volunteers stepped up for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

August 2019 - Canada increased its investment in the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 15.7%, from $ CAD 804 Million (2017 – 2019) to $ CAD 930.4 Million (2020 – 2022). This is fantastic news as it is an investment that will contribute to 16 million lives saved – and is a testament to Canada’s continued leadership in global health.

An Investment in Impact: Canada Steps Up and Increases its Pledge to the Global Fund

August 2019 - On Thursday August 22nd, 2019 the Canadian Government announced that it will be increasing its investment to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 15.7% to a total of CAD $930.4 Million over three years (2020 – 2022).  It is an investment that will contribute to 16 million lives saved – and is a testament to Canada’s continued leadership in global health.

How to Use the Power of Conversation to Engage in the 2019 Federal Election

August 2019 - Every four years it’s the same story. You register to vote, go to the polls, line up, tick off a name on a sheet of paper and wait to hear the results. Years of waiting to turn 18 so that you can vote, months of campaigning by candidates, weeks of non-stop news coverage of the upcoming election, just to be over within a matter of minutes until you can participate again in four years.

Results Ottawa Group

August 2019 - The Ottawa group was created in early 1988 and has been at the forefront of some incredible successes since its inception. Volunteers get together on a monthly basis to learn about timely issues and solutions to ending extreme poverty and then collectively plan their advocacy actions. Needless to say that the group is comprised of dedicated, hard-working and passionate individuals. 

Davida Heathcote

July 2019 - Davida joined Results Canada as a short term intern as part of her master’s program at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Ottawa.  During her time with Results Canada, she had the chance to meet with her Member of Parliament (MP) for the first time.

Looking back at Women Deliver

July 2019 - In June 2019, over 8,000 passionate advocates gathered in Vancouver BC, for Women Deliver – the largest global conference on gender equality. World leaders, youth, experts and people across many sectors came together to celebrate the power of women and push towards a healthier, wealthier and more equitable world for all.

June 2019 - Nina has recently joined the Results Ottawa group and is passionate about raising her voice to end extreme poverty. Nina recently met with her Member of Parliament (MP) and we’ve asked her a couple of questions about her experience.

Results Canada at Women Deliver 2019

May 2019 - Women Deliver, the largest global conference on the health and rights of women and girls, is coming to Vancouver, British Columbia June 3-6, 2019. RESULTS Canada is looking forward to learning, networking and hosting interactive side events during the conference.

From April 7 to April 13 2019, Canada shines the spotlight on Canadian volunteers from coast to coast, and there’s a lot to celebrate! At Results Canada we’re grateful and fortunate to have many incredible individuals who work tirelessly towards a world without extreme poverty.

Tayler Hernandez

March 2019 - Tayler joined the Results Carleton University Group in early fall 2018 and has proven to be a driving force ever since. In addition to her involvement with Results Canada, Tayler also sits on a Youth Advisory Council to provide perspective to a Working Group that aims to further the Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.

Sherry Moran

February 2019 - "Most of my career was spent working for the Canadian government among the policymakers. As an advocate for Results Canada in my retirement, I am now on the other side of the table. I find the new perspective broader and the goals we are working to achieve more gratifying." As an active member of her community, Sherry is an undeniably dynamic citizen advocate! Sherry is proof that using your voice truly can make a difference.

Results Calgary Group

February 2019 - The Calgary Group is one of the longest standing chapters of Results Canada made up of dynamic and vocal volunteers. Every month they get together and pull their strengths to advocate and raise awareness around issues linked to global poverty. They are passionate about creating a more just world for all!
