Volunteers go above and beyond for World Tuberculosis (TB) Day despite the pandemic

March 2021 - Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Results Canada volunteers made it clear on World TB Day (March 24, 2021) that they care about ending tuberculosis (TB). They demonstrated their collective voice by taking action to light up a record number of landmarks in red, securing Mayor proclamations, and gaining media attention.

Canada’s budget is missing a recovery plan for the world

April 2021 - On April 19, the government announced an additional CAD$375 million towards the global pandemic response, which is part of a CAD$1.4 billion increase in international assistance over 5 years. Much of this CAD$1.4 billion is targeted for spending this year, meaning that Canada does not have a recovery plan for the world and is failing to take action to #StopTheDeadlyDivide.

World Immunization Week April 24-30, 2021: “Vaccines Bring Us Closer”

April 2021 - With all eyes on vaccines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, World Immunization Week (WIW) from April 24-30 offers an unprecedented opportunity to highlight the importance of immunization around the world. To end the pandemic, the majority of the world needs to be immune to COVID-19 and the safest way to achieve this is with a vaccine.

A year of COVID-19: What’s led us to introduce a refreshed 1% Canadian aid ask

March 2021 - As of March 13, it has been one year to the day that Canada’s parliament shut down in response to COVID-19. In collaboration with our sector allies and with the support of many Results volunteers, we have refreshed our 1% ask of Canada.

Fellowship across borders

March 2021 - A Fellowship program now exists in Canada thanks to a recent collaboration between RESULTS U.S. and Results Canada. The Fellowship program is a prime example of how sharing resources can lead to the building of a new initiative that can be implemented around the world.

February 2021 - More than 4,000 people die every day from tuberculosis (TB). To raise awareness, the international community puts the spotlight on World TB Day every year on March 24. It is a globally recognized day for people around the world to stand in solidarity with the millions of people who suffer from TB, and the millions who have lost their lives.

Participate in Canada's pre-budget consultations

February 2021 - Last spring, the Government of Canada was supposed to release their annual budget but due to increased financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic, it was put on hold. As many countries face inwards to address domestic needs, the devastating secondary effects of COVID-19 are widening the gaps of inequality around the world. Before February 19, make your voice heard in this year’s federal budget so we can #StopTheDeadlyDivide.

Saying goodbye to 2020

December 2020 - When COVID-19 struck, Results volunteers stepped into high-gear. As early as April, we were all demanding Canadian leadership to #EndCovidEverywhere and calling on the government to invest the equivalent of at least 1% of what we’d spent on our domestic pandemic response to the global effort, or CAD$2.3B in new international aid.

November 2020 - “Time is one of the most precious commodities that we have in this modern, technologically driven world. I choose to give my time to volunteer with Results because the return on investment of a relatively small amount of time spent learning about global poverty issues, writing letters and meeting with decision-makers can be huge in terms of collective global change.” says Roshelle who has been a volunteer since 2009 and was a co-leader of the Toronto group until 2018.

October 2020 - The best defense against hopelessness? Taking action and getting results. Saturday October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It’s a day when the world pauses to reflect on the devastating impact of extreme poverty, violence and hunger. It’s also a day when we stand together powerfully with those living in poverty to commit to fighting for a more equitable and hopeful world.
