Volunteers Amal and Anjali lead innovative hackathon

January 2022 - Following the Nutrition for Growth Summit in December 2021, co-leaders for Results Canada's Online Group, Amal and Anjali, hosted the first-ever Resultsathon on December 11-12! The volunteer-led hackathon event provided a unique problem-solving opportunity for volunteers to share and broaden their knowledge of advocacy work by creating innovative solutions to address the global challenges of malnutrition.

When she is not working hard as our Senior Advisor of Policy & Parliamentary Affairs, you can find her consumed by a book, decompressing in nature, defeating her family at board games, cooking up a storm, or jamming to vinyl.

reflecting six months into the first Results Canada Fellowship

July 2021 - Only six months ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we welcomed our first-ever cohort of energized advocates thanks to the launch of our Results Canada Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program. Since then, fellows have become a driving force of advocacy for our issues: in a short time they have published letters to the editor and op-eds, engaged with parliamentarians (Members of Parliament and senators), organized successful activities, have inspired others to take action, have created local groups of volunteers and more.

July 2021 - When asked what Canada should do in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Françoise Bigirimana draws on her experience working with HIV: “The current context of the COVID-19 vaccine brings me back to the mid-1990s when HIV treatment was effective in Europe and North America, but there was no capacity for it in low-income countries. It was so sad to see a huge number of people dying in my country (Burundi). The inequity to treatment was so high, despite the virus having no border.”

Blaise Cabanban - volunteer spotlight

May 2021 - “When you’re inspired by the volunteer work you do, you naturally want to build a network that demonstrates a clear message of allyship and inclusion.” This month, we’re featuring Blaise, a provincial leader who isn’t afraid of a challenge! Blaise came to Results in Fall 2020 with a passion for human rights, community building, and humanitarian policy.

Volunteers go above and beyond for World Tuberculosis (TB) Day despite the pandemic

March 2021 - Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Results Canada volunteers made it clear on World TB Day (March 24, 2021) that they care about ending tuberculosis (TB). They demonstrated their collective voice by taking action to light up a record number of landmarks in red, securing Mayor proclamations, and gaining media attention.

National Volunteer Week volunteer showcase

April 2021 - Results volunteers are awesome! For National Volunteer Week, we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of many passionate and dedicated volunteers who continuously give their time to advocate for a world free of extreme poverty. Our volunteers come from across Canada, forming groups and taking action within their communities. From writing letters to the editors (LTEs) to engaging parliamentarians, their collective actions create a powerful force for change.

Black History Month in Canada

February 2021 - February is Black History Month in Canada. We must actively and intentionally weave anti-oppression into our advocacy to ensure that as we work to eliminate extreme poverty, we are simultaneously striving to eliminate structural and systemic white-supremacy, racism, and inequities.
