reflecting six months into the first Results Canada Fellowship
July 2021 - Only six months ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we welcomed our first-ever cohort of energized advocates thanks to the launch of our Results Canada Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program. Since then, fellows have become a driving force of advocacy for our issues: in a short time they have published letters to the editor and op-eds, engaged with parliamentarians (Members of Parliament and senators), organized successful activities, have inspired others to take action, have created local groups of volunteers and more.

July 2021 - When asked what Canada should do in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Françoise Bigirimana draws on her experience working with HIV: “The current context of the COVID-19 vaccine brings me back to the mid-1990s when HIV treatment was effective in Europe and North America, but there was no capacity for it in low-income countries. It was so sad to see a huge number of people dying in my country (Burundi). The inequity to treatment was so high, despite the virus having no border.”

Volunteers go above and beyond for World Tuberculosis (TB) Day despite the pandemic
March 2021 - Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Results Canada volunteers made it clear on World TB Day (March 24, 2021) that they care about ending tuberculosis (TB). They demonstrated their collective voice by taking action to light up a record number of landmarks in red, securing Mayor proclamations, and gaining media attention.
