“Results has a such a lean and efficient model… it’s remarkable how much they’ve done.” Jim Yong Kim, former president, World Bank
With heart and hard work, we have contributed to some of the world’s biggest wins in the fight to end extreme poverty – from cutting child deaths in half and lifting more families out of poverty to ensuring millions more kids have access to education.
In May 2020 the Canadian Government announced that it will commit CAD $600 million over 5 years to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) and CAD $190 million over 4 years for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
These investments will be critical in helping Gavi and GPEI achieve their routine immunization goals as well as helping to ensure an effective global COVID-19 response. In 2019, Canada increased its investment in the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 15.7%, from CAD $804 million (2017 – 2019) to CAD $930.4 million (2020 – 2022), an investment that will contribute to 16 million lives saved. Results volunteers sent countless letters to Members of Parliament (MPs); hundreds of media pieces were published; and high-impact meetings were organized with government decision makers and in communities across Canada.
What brings me month after month to Results is the realization that by taking small actions, I contribute to other actions throughout the country and together we produce tangible results. We’ve actually unlocked hundreds of millions of dollars in health care, education, economic opportunities for the world’s poorest families. That makes a huge difference for me as a human being to see that my few hours of volunteering makes such an impact.
