He is also a TB survivor.“ I believe that the world changes by your actions and not your opinions. Life is what you make of it, and TB shouldn’t make you lose your dreams. My victory over TB has helped me raise awareness about TB, destigmatize it and provide hope and belief to patients. The aim is to thrive, not just stay alive.”

January 2020 - “People need to know how many people die from tuberculosis even though we have a cure for it. When you think about what an injustice that is - that this is a curable disease - that keeps me up at night. It just makes me crazy when I think that 1.6 million people die of a disease that we have a cure for. It should make you nuts. It’s a huge injustice.”

Rhea shares her tuberculosis experience

Our volunteers stepped up for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
August 2019 - Canada increased its investment in the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria by 15.7%, from $ CAD 804 Million (2017 – 2019) to $ CAD 930.4 Million (2020 – 2022). This is fantastic news as it is an investment that will contribute to 16 million lives saved – and is a testament to Canada’s continued leadership in global health.

Results Ottawa Group
August 2019 - The Ottawa group was created in early 1988 and has been at the forefront of some incredible successes since its inception. Volunteers get together on a monthly basis to learn about timely issues and solutions to ending extreme poverty and then collectively plan their advocacy actions. Needless to say that the group is comprised of dedicated, hard-working and passionate individuals.
