important: This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program which requires applicants to be aged between 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.

Results Canada is recruiting a Campaigns Intern to join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers. The Campaigns Intern will support the Communications and Parliamentary Affairs teams in developing and delivering high-impact advocacy campaigns, producing advocacy tools and communications products, and creating content and tools to support building political and parliamentary champions.

responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of advocacy campaigns that contribute to generating the political will to end extreme poverty (emphasis on health, education, and economic inclusion).
  • Support the development of communications products, including social media copy, blogs, promotional materials, and newsletters.
  • Contribute to Results Canada’s social media strategy by supporting content creation geared toward Canadian parliamentarians.
  • Support and coordinate Results Canada’s engagement in events or other special projects.
  • Conduct stakeholder and influence mapping in support of Results Canada’s parliamentary strategy.
  • Contribute to Results Canada’s media strategy by identifying relevant media contacts and outlets.
  • Assist in the development of clear political messaging to support Results Canada campaigns
  • Write statements, short speeches, and letters to the editor in support of Results Canada campaigns
  • Other duties as required.

requirements

  • Knowledge of international development/affairs, public policy, public health, political science, journalism, communications, or other related fields, or experience in a relevant field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, goal-oriented, and proactive.
  • Strong research skills. 
  • Proven communications, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for advocacy.
  • An interest and eagerness to work in coalition with various partners.
  • Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect. 
  • An eagerness to learn.

assets

  • Knowledge and interest in Canadian politics.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience with basic graphic design (e.g. Canva).
  • Familiarity with email marketing software and basic website management (e.g. WordPress)
  • Proficiency in English and French.

work environment

Results Canada operates as a hybrid work environment with staff working from home and our Ottawa office as required. We encourage fully remote candidates (outside Ottawa-Gatineau) to apply for this role; however, preference will be given to those in Ottawa-Gatineau.
