Taryn Russell - Deputy Executive Director

By: Results Canada Published: 10/10/2023

Hello! I’m Taryn Russell, the Deputy Executive Director at Results Canada.

I was born in Comox B.C. but my dad was in the Air Force so we moved often (7 times!) while I was growing up. We lived in Winnipeg twice for longer postings, so I consider that my second home after Ottawa.

From as early as I can remember I’ve always been a voracious reader. I loved reading about far-away people and places and dreamt of travelling the world when I grew up. This thirst for worldly things translated into my education and I studied Global Political Economy at the University of Manitoba and then moved to Ottawa to pursue a Master’s in International Affairs.

After working for both the Federal Government and the United Nations I realized that big bureaucracies were not for me and I found my way to Results Canada, which was dynamic, impact focused, and just a really fun place to work.

I started out as a child health policy officer and as I gained experience, I was able to take on greater leadership roles in the organization. I left for a couple of years to work with Save the Children Canada but couldn’t stay away too long and came back a year ago as Deputy ED. In this role I support and learn from our amazing Executive Director and get to apply my knowledge and experience into making the organization as strong as possible.

On the day-to-day I try to focus on ensuring our amazing team has the support and mentoring they need to create global impact, but I also spend equal brain power on developing and strengthening organizational policies and processes to ensure that Results remains a fantastic place to work, learn, and grow.
