Education is about more than the curriculum – it fosters peace, security, and gender equality. Take action NOW to urge Canada to step up for education in emergency contexts.
Seven years ago today, Canada made history by leading the G7 to deliver game-changing investment in education for women and girls in crisis and conflict settings through the Charlevoix Declaration. As Canada prepares to host the G7 once again next week, we have a powerful opportunity to build on that legacy.
The commitment in 2018 marked a turning point in global leadership on education, putting gender equality and learning for all at the heart of peace, recovery, and access to quality education in emergencies. This historic initiative leveraged over $3.8 billion, which has helped millions of girls and young women access the education they need to thrive – even in the most challenging contexts and crises.
Today, with more children out of school due to conflict than at any point since World War II, we must urge decision-makers to step up with another bold commitment to global education – one that recognizes education as essential to peace, security, and gender equality.
We have no time to lose.
Join us in marking this anniversary by calling on Canada to lead once again for education in crises at this year’s G7.
