Budget 2026 submission: roadmap to a more secure and prosperous world

By: Results Canada Published: June 2, 2026

Our submission to the federal government's pre-budget consultations calls on Canada to strengthen its role as a reliable and forward-looking partner in ending extreme poverty through strategic investments.

The global landscape has shifted dramatically. At a time of increasing uncertainty, outbreaks, climate instability, and conflict, the increasing cuts to international assistance around the world, including from Canada, are making it hard to meet this moment and keep us all secure and healthy.

Canada has an opportunity to make smart investments in global stability, health security, economic resilience, and future trade relationships that benefit the world and Canadians.

We are urging the federal government to:

  • protect global poverty-related international assistance to ensure funding is strategic and forward-looking
  • reaffirm our commitment to global health security and rights
  • invest in pandemic preparedness and the 100 Days Mission so we are ready to stop the next pandemic before it starts
  • prioritize tuberculosis R&D to help end the world’s deadliest infectious disease, which also impacts people in Canada
  • renew support for eradicating polio once and for all
  • support global education for children and youth, especially in fragile and crisis-affected settings

These commitments would help save lives, prevent future crises, strengthen international partnerships, and help create long-term prosperity at home and abroad.

As global challenges become increasingly interconnected, Canada's security and prosperity depend on a more stable and secure global context. Our submission provides proven solutions that are within our reach.
