Results Canada is a nonprofit advocacy organization of passionate staff and volunteers committed to generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. We focus our work on health equity, access to quality education, and economic inclusion.
Under the direction of the Public Engagement Team, each Group Leader is responsible for supporting and engaging Results Canada's volunteers to take action by organizing meetings and providing tools and assistance.
responsibilities
- Start/maintain a local group in your community or campus by recruiting volunteers yourself and welcoming new volunteers recruited by the Public Engagement team (a group should ideally have at a minimum 4 volunteers)
- Attend the monthly Action Kick-Off calls and lead the volunteer break-out sessions
- Coordinate the logistics of the group (meeting venue, email correspondence, follow up, etc.)
- Submit a monthly group leaders’ report
- Ensure happiness, wellbeing, and sustainability of group by encouraging others to take leadership within the group and by organizing social activities
- Take part in webinars, calls, online discussions, and campaigns to take action
- Lead by example by taking actions (political engagement, media letter-writing, etc.), alongside volunteers and in support of our campaigns
- Promote volunteers to leadership positions within your group to build a strong team of co-leaders
- Ensure the sustainability of your group by always having a leadership transition plan in case you need to step down
- Sharing responsibilities within the group by creating mentorship and delegation structures asking group volunteers to pick tasks
- Make volunteers inactive if they are unresponsive to any email or other forms of communication for more than three months without prior notice and send the list to the Public Engagement team
- Post on Slack regularly to celebrate volunteer successes, share knowledge, or discuss the campaign

- Passionate about ending poverty in low- and middle-income countries
- Committed to lead by taking action on a monthly basis
- Excellent at building relationships (even online!) and loves to inspire, develop, and motivate others
- Self-motivated with an ability to prioritize and take initiative
- Good organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and oral presentation skills – outgoing and problem-solver
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to go out of their comfort zone to create change
- Available and able to respond in timely manner (within 2-3 days)
- Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect
- A sense of humour and generosity of spirit is essential
