As a parent living in Mississauga, I know how essential good nutrition is for children’s growth and learning. Yet around the world, millions of women and children are being held back by malnutrition one of the most urgent but solvable crises of our time.
Canada has an opportunity to lead. A commitment of $450 million over five years to proven nutrition programs would help save lives, reduce child deaths, and strengthen communities. Directing part of this funding to the Child Nutrition Fund ensures mothers and children most in need receive the support they deserve.
With federal budget decisions underway and world leaders meeting at the United Nations this month, the time for action is now. Prioritizing nutrition in Canada’s international assistance policy is not only a humanitarian duty, but also a smart investment in health and stability for all.
