Imagine giving birth alone, separated from your baby, because of a disease we already know how to cure. Ani faced this reality when she was diagnosed with drug-resistant tuberculosis. Instead of welcoming her first child with joy, she endured fear, isolation, and painful treatment. Thanks to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Ani survived and is now a healthy mother of three.

Tuberculosis is the world’s deadliest infectious disease, yet it is preventable and curable. Each year, it affects over 10 million people and claims more than 1.2 million lives. Families lose parents too soon, children grow up without care, and communities are left struggling.

Canada can make a difference. The Global Fund provides 76 percent of international TB funding and has helped reduce TB deaths by 36 percent where it invests. By supporting its Eighth Replenishment, Canada can save lives, protect children, and keep families together.

Will you join me in urging Canada to invest in the Global Fund so families like Ani’s can survive and thrive?
