Role title: Provincial Leader
Number of openings: Number of openings depend widely per province; interested individuals from all provinces and territories should apply.
Location: Remote - in the province or territory that you would represent
Duration: 12 month engagement
Hours: 5-6 hours per week, at times will be demanding, at other times less so.

Under the direction of their Regional volunteer Coordinator, each Provincial Leader is responsible for assisting their assigned groups (3-5 on average) in achieving their goals. Provincial Leaders collaborate closely with Group Leaders. Learn more about Provincial Leaders by reading this story about Blaise's experience in the role.

responsibilities

  • Facilitate advocacy and volunteer activities in their own province by  overseeing the creation of sustainable local groups
  • Join your assigned groups’ monthly Education & Action (E&A) meetings on a rolling basis to support Group Leaders
  • Coach Group Leaders on facilitating discussions, building community and communicating with volunteers
  • Help new group leaders understand their role and responsibilities
  • Inspire individuals to be part of a movement creating change
  • Research volunteer recruitment opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Problem-solve common challenges with your assigned Group Leaders
  • Engage and encourage volunteers to take action by promoting our current call-to-action
  • Act as a backup for Group Leaders if they were suddenly unable to fulfill their group leader duties
  • Collaborate with your Regional Coordinator, with fellow Provincial Leaders across the country, and with Group Leaders and volunteers in your province on special projects as needed
  • Take part in webinars, calls, online discussions, and campaigns to take action
  • Collaborate with local liked-minded organizations either to raise funds or promote awareness
  • Lead by example by taking actions (political engagement, media letter-writing, etc.), alongside volunteers and in support of our campaigns

requirements

  • Must be of legal age in your province of residence
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independently with a remote team of colleagues and volunteers
  • Ability to influence and willingness to lead by example
  • Tech savvy and comfortable in a digital world
  • Volunteer community experience in Canada
  • Good interpersonal and oral presentation skills – outgoing and problem-solver
  • Self-motivated with an ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Although not required, proficiency in both English and French is a definite asset; proficiency in French and in English is required for the Quebec Provincial Leader.
  • Available and able to respond in timely manner (2-3 days)
  • Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect
  • A sense of humour and generosity of spirit is essential
