Role title: Online Community Volunteer
Location: In the comfort of your own home or at your favourite local coffee shop as it’s all done virtually. Prefer to have face to face interactions? Join existing groups across the country or start your own as a group leader.
Duration: Continuous work for a minimum of at least 12 months.
Hours:  Approximately 1 hour a week, at times will be demanding, at other times less so. 

N.B. This is a voluntary position for which Results Canada does not provide any compensation.

We are a global movement of passionate citizens, committed to raising our voices for a world without extreme poverty. 

roles and responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the online community by interacting with fellow volunteers, by sharing what you find online that is relevant to our campaigns and issues, on leadership, etc.
  • Take action alongside fellow group members on the current campaign. Example of actions (but not limited to):
    • engaging with your federal Member of Parliament by writing or meeting with them
    • writing letters to the editor
    • organizing events
    • supporting the logistics of the group
    • being active on social media
    • taking part in the online community of Results Canada
    • fundraising
    • tabling at an event to talk about Results Canada
  • Support fellow volunteers
  • Report on your actions to your Online Community Leader on a monthly basis 

You will build a close relationship with online community members and staff. You will be part of a community of like-minded individuals committed to creating change and you will hone and grow different skills from effective online engagement, participating in virtual meetings, communicating, raising awareness, training and more.

what we’re looking for

  • Someone passionate about ending poverty in the Global South and committed to lead by taking action to build the political will to end poverty
  • A “people person”, who is excellent at building relationships (even online!) and who loves to inspire, develop and motivate others
  • Someone with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Someone who is able to go out of their comfort zone to create change
  • Someone who is comfortable with or willing to learn to use Slack, an online collaborative tool
