Role title: Online Group Volunteer
Location: In the comfort of your own home as you are connecting virtually with people located around Canada. Prefer to connect with people from your community? Join existing groups across the country or start your own as a group leader.
Duration: 12 month engagement
Hours:  1-2 hour a week, at times will be demanding, at other times less so. 

N.B. This is a voluntary position for which Results Canada does not provide any compensation. 

Join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers and help put an end to extreme poverty.

Results Canada is a global movement of passionate everyday people committed to advocating for a world without extreme poverty.  We leverage programs and improved policies that give people living in poverty the health, education and opportunity they need to thrive.

Our online network consists of volunteers from all around Canada who communicate via Slack and virtual meetings to support one another in taking action. Online Group Volunteers bring a lot of value to the Results family as they raise their voice for a world free of poverty, uplift their peers across the country, and collaborate with people they may not otherwise meet due to geography

responsibilities

  • Attend and actively participate in the virtual monthly education & action (E&A) meetings
  • Actively participate in the online group by interacting with fellow volunteers, by sharing what you find online that is relevant to our campaigns and issues, on leadership, etc.
  • Take action alongside fellow group members on the current campaign. Example of actions (but not limited to):
    • engaging with your Member of Parliament by writing or meeting with them (in person or virtually)
    • writing letters to the editor (LTE)
    • organizing events
    • supporting the logistics of the group
    • being active on social media
    • taking part in the online group of Results Canada
    • fundraising
    • tabling at an event to talk about Results Canada
  • Support fellow volunteers in taking action
  • Report on your actions to your Online Group Leader on a monthly basis

requirements

  • Passionate about ending  poverty in the Global South
  • Committed to take action on a monthly basis
  • Excellent at building relationships (even online!) and loves to inspire, develop, and motivate others
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to go out of their comfort zone to create change
  • Knowledge of the platform Slack or willingness to learn to use it
  • Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect
