Role title: Online Group Leader 
Location: In the comfort of your own home as you are connecting virtually with people located around Canada. Prefer to connect with people from your city or region? Join existing groups across the country or start your own as a Group Leader.
Duration: 12 month engagement
Hours:  2-4 hours a week, at times will be demanding, at other times less so. 

N.B. This is a voluntary position for which Results Canada does not provide any compensation. 

Join our dedicated team of staff and volunteers and help put an end to extreme poverty.

Results Canada is a global movement of passionate everyday people committed to advocating for a world without extreme poverty.  We leverage programs and improved policies that give people living in poverty the health, education and opportunity they need to thrive.

Our online network consists of volunteers from all around Canada who communicate via Slack and virtual meetings to support one another in taking action. Online Group Leaders are essential to supporting and leading online volunteers, by motivating them to take action and offering assistance as needed. 

Under the direction of your assigned Provincial Leader, each Online Group Leader is responsible for supporting and engaging Results Canada's online volunteers to take action by organizing meetings and providing tools and assistance.

responsibilities

  • Maintain the online group on Slack to ensure its sustainability
  • Organize monthly education & action (E&A) meetings in sync with our monthly calls to action 
  • Recruit and support volunteers; inspire them to be part of a movement creating change
  • Post engaging content on Slack regularly (information, videos, calls to action, etc.)
  • Monitor online discussion on a daily basis and engage with volunteers’ content
  • Engage with and inspire volunteers to take action by promoting monthly calls to action and our current campaign
  • Compile monthly reports on actions from your group
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Group Leaders across the country, your assigned Provincial Leader, and with volunteers part of the Results network 
  • Take part in webinars, calls, online discussions, and campaigns to take action
  • Lead by example by taking actions (political engagement, media letter-writing, etc.), alongside volunteers and in support of our campaigns

requirements 

  • Knowledge of the platform Slack or willingness to learn to use it
  • Passionate about ending poverty in the Global South
  • Committed to lead by taking action on a monthly basis 
  • Excellent at building relationships (even online!) and loves to inspire, develop, and motivate others
  • Self-motivated with an ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Creative and able to solve problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to go out of their comfort zone to create change
  • Available and able to respond in timely manner
  • Respect for diversity and commitment to creating an environment that values inclusiveness and respect
  • A sense of humour and generosity of spirit is essential

asset

  • Although not required, proficiency in both English and French is a definite asset.
