What started with rallying behind a growing coalition <a href=\"https:\/\/resultscanada.ca\/canadian-partners-come-together-for-a-week-of-action-to-fightforwhatcounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Week of Action<\/a> where volunteers and supporters met parliamentarians to share a common ask for an ambitious investment in the Global Fund, has become a coalition of 14+ organizations calling on Canada for a CAD$1.2 billion pledge to end the three epidemics everywhere. She was grateful that because of access to treatment, his diagnosis wasn\u2019t a death sentence \u2013 and wished that for everyone around the world. I won\u2019t forget Pauline or her story\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/div><div id=\"text_block-54-255\" class=\"ct-text-block\" ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div id=\"div_block-45-255\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><img decoding=\"async\"  id=\"image-46-255\" alt=\"Robyn at Pride Toronto - Results Canada\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.resultscanada.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0129-web-e1658937745108.jpg\" class=\"ct-image\"\/><div id=\"div_block-47-255\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><h3 id=\"headline-48-255\" class=\"ct-headline\">Robyn Waite<\/h3><h4 id=\"headline-49-255\" class=\"ct-headline\">Director of Policy and Advocacy <\/h4><div id=\"text_block-50-255\" class=\"ct-text-block\" >\u201cThe most memorable moment to me was meeting one of our drag artists, giving her the down low of what we were doing at the booth, and then watching her speak to her first passer-byer \u2013 she dove into telling her story as a positive person now on treatment and being undetectable, meaning she could not transmit the AIDS virus to others. She then asked \u2013 \u201cshouldn't everyone, everywhere have access to life-saving treatments? Just because someone lives in a low-income country context doesn\u2019t mean they should suffer, die, or live in their shell for fear of spreading disease\u201d.<\/div><div id=\"text_block-54-255\" class=\"ct-text-block\" ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div id=\"div_block-45-255\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><img decoding=\"async\"  id=\"image-46-255\" alt=\"Neha at Pride Toronto - Results Canada\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.resultscanada.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_2261-web-rotated-e1658937718983.jpg\" class=\"ct-image\"\/><div id=\"div_block-47-255\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><h3 id=\"headline-48-255\" class=\"ct-headline\">Neha Beri<\/h3><h4 id=\"headline-49-255\" class=\"ct-headline\">Parliamentary Affairs Manager <\/h4><div id=\"text_block-50-255\" class=\"ct-text-block\" >\u201cAs we were walking to get in line to march in the parade, I noticed Liberal staff along the parade line. By the time we were able to reach the Liberal Banner, I noticed all the GTA Toronto MPs and the Minister of Finance (Chrystia Freeland) waiting to begin their march. It was now or never - I walked up to the Minister of Finance and told her we were here on behalf of The Global Fund looking for Canada to commit CAD$1.2 billion to the multilateral. She consented to take a picture with our drag artists and is now aware of our Global Fund ask. The drag performers said they have never done advocacy like that before and thanked Results for the opportunity of a lifetime\u201d. <\/div><div id=\"text_block-54-255\" class=\"ct-text-block\" ><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"tb-fields-and-text\" data-toolset-blocks-fields-and-text=\"3e1d2592ce20bdf2bf813c9dfa44c991\"><p>It\u2019s amazing what we can accomplish when we stand strong together.<\/p>\n<h4>gaining support for a letter to the Prime Minister<\/h4>\n<p>Backed by the coalition of Canadian civil society organizations and grassroots supporters, throughout May to July, we called on our Members of Parliament and Senators to gain signatures and support for a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1XqimK3pl1wBQbekTargqbYMLjQxlFerrCfQwimYkQMI\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau<\/a> asking for an ambitious pledge to the Global Fund. To kickstart this initiative, Results Canada hosted a Week of Action between May 30 and June 3. Following this, staff and volunteers continued outreach through email and constituency office phone calls with amazing success! In summary, we have secured <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ResultsCda\/status\/1547621076284219395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">50 supporters<\/a> representing all parties including Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Green, Bloc, and Senator support and finally submitted the letter to the Prime Minister\u2019s Office!<\/p>\n<h4>preparing for the International AIDS Conference<\/h4>\n<p>Next up, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aids2022.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International AIDS Conference<\/a>, happening in Montreal July 29 - August 2, is an opportune moment for Canada to announce this commitment and we are ready to be loud in our response. Everyone is still working hard this week to ensure Canada makes the #1Point2Billion pledge, see Chris Dendys\u2019 feature in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/canada\/article-advocates-say-canada-should-commit-12-billion-to-fight-against-aids-tb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article in The Globe and Mail<\/a> and Leigh Raithby\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devex.com\/news\/opinion-why-canada-needs-to-step-up-global-fund-support-this-year-103597?utm_medium=image&amp;utm_source=landing_page&amp;utm_campaign=cs_talking-tb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed in Devex<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to celebrate alongside all of you who have been working with us to secure this pledge and see Canada #FightForWhatCounts to end the epidemics.
