Imagine watching your child die from a disease that a $2 vaccine could have prevented. For millions of families, that\u2019s not a story\u2014it\u2019s their reality. Yet even as lives hang in the balance, nations debate budget lines and slash life-saving aid. With the U.S. dismantling USAID\u2014once the world\u2019s largest global health funder\u2014the need for Canada to lead has never been greater. This isn\u2019t charity; it\u2019s smart, strategic policy. Canada\u2019s international aid is insurance for our shared future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In just a few months, the U.S. has pulled out of vital global health initiatives, threatening decades of progress against poverty, disease, and instability. USAID provided over 42% of global health funding, and its withdrawal is a blow to global health security. The ripple effects are immediate: stalled vaccination campaigns, shortages of vital drugs, and setbacks in maternal and child health programs. When global systems weaken, outbreaks spread, and poverty deepens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We call on Canada\u2019s next government to step up\u2014not step back\u2014and lead in tackling the world\u2019s most pressing challenges. As Mark Carney recently said, \u201cCanada is ready to lead.\u201d Leadership today means showing up\u2014for global health, human dignity, and the wellbeing of underserved communities. Canada has led before, and we must continue. Our contributions saved lives, reduced child mortality by 50% in 25 years, and lifted millions out of poverty. These aren\u2019t just numbers. They\u2019re lives saved. They\u2019re people with dreams and ambitions given a better fighting chance at life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As candidates seek our votes, we must demand that they prioritize Canada\u2019s global leadership. A better world starts with Canada showing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
